This is a virtual project for a next album concept board for group ‘TXT.’ I developed logo and concept boards based on the conept they have done and tried to make a continuous concept.

이미 실존하는 아이돌 그룹 중에 하나를 골라 컴백을 한다면 어떤 컨셉과 그에 맞는 비쥬얼을 선보여야 할까? 라는 생각으로 만들어본 빅히트 엔터테인먼트 소속의 그룹 TXT의 가상 컴백을 위한 로고 제작 및 컨셉구상을 해본 작업물이다.

I chose a NGO that is really exising, and set as my client, and changed their branding strategy in own my way. The name of NGO is “Freinds of Animals” and working for animals’ rights. I focused on how they can be promoted in diverse way both in online and offline.

미국에 실제 존재하고 있는 NGO 하나를 골라 그들이 내 고객이라고 한다면 어떠한 브랜드 전략을 세울것인가에 대한 프로젝트를 진행해보았다. “Friends of Animals”라는 동물보호단체를 골랐고, 어느 한 동물종류에 구애 받지 않고 많은 동물들을 보호하고 있는단체라는 점에 착안, 여러 동물의 특징이 들어간 영어 폰트를 개발하였다. 그 폰트를 바탕으로 10-30대를 타겟으로 하여, 다양한 굿즈와 포스터 또한 디자인을 해보았다. 또한 귀여운 폰트를 바탕으로 만든 여러 굿즈를 이용하여 대중교통, 옥외광고의 디자인과 굿즈를 파는 팝업스토어의 목업 또한 디자인해 보았다.

First of all, I came up with a concept of “instruction video” when I plan this video. What I didn’t want to do in this project was listing my public persona and private persona which I did in my last three projects. I think it is not a great idea just listing my private and public persona in one-dimensional way. At the same time, I wanted to pull out some metaphoric components from my last three projects. Typeface and geometric shapes were really great to put in this video. I uesd Helvetica and Baskervile when I put my subtitle in this video. Also, I put circle and hexagon as symbols of showing transition between private and public persona.

The content of this video shows how I change my personas. The model who represents me going in to my home, and put down my private persona. I used hexagon mirror because my private persona represents with hexagon shape. After put down my private persona, the model grab a circle bottle which represents my public persona, circle, and drink that. This shows my persona is changing to private to public in a metaphoric and symbolic way. Finally, the model prepared to go out with different persona.

페르소나 1이라는 제목으로, 나 자신을 주제로 삼아 나의 안의 모습과 바깥의 모습을 바꾸기 위한 방법을 은유적으로 표현한 컨셉비디오이다. 촬영과 편집 모두 직접하였다. 비디오의 내용은 나 자신을 바꾸기 위해 마셔야 하는 약이 있는데 그 약을 어떻게 마시는지에 대한 사용설명서 개념의 컨셉비디오이다. 카메라 앵글과 중간에 그래픽을 어떻게 조화시킬지 생각하며 만든 비디오이다.

My video talks about a mask for hiding myself from public and private spaces. I tried to express that my characteristic is shy and intimidate, so there is a way that I can hide myself by using a symbolic mask, “persona mask.” The person mask contains both of my private and public characteristics. I got my mask image from my previous project (self-portrait), and attached on a white mask. I put this mask and took videos from different places. Some places are private place (my room and bathroom), and some places are public spaces (subway station and apartment park). I also wanted to show differences and contrasts of the atmosphere of the mask when it is on private or public spaces.

페르소나 1의 두번째 시리즈로, 타인에게 나를 보여주는 페르소나의 마스크를 만들어 어떻게 사용하는지에 대한 방법을 표현한 컨셉 비디오. 촬영과 편집은 직접하였다. 나를 표현하지만 동시에 나의 내면 또한 숨길수 있는 자화상 마스크라는 상징을 만들어 그것을 어떻게 밖에서 쓰는지를 보여주는 컨셉 비디오. 시네마그래프를 이용한 포토에세이 또한 어떤 방식으로 자화상 마스크를 쓰는지 보여주고 있다.

This is a short video coming from “Alice in Wonderland.” I tried to convey curious and mysterious mood in this short video.

이상한 나라의 앨리스에서 영감을 받아 그것이 가지고 있는 신비롭지만 또 한편으로는 불가사의한 느낌을 가진 아주 짧은 애니메이션을 애프터 이펙트를 이용해 제작해보았다.

I created a short moive with the theme of “TIME IS….” I had to consider about the camera angles and storylines for this movie. The whole story is that a boy and a girl hear a sound and run around for finding what the sound is. And here is what the thing is happening. I had to think a lot about how the editing can be smooth for making a whole story.

“TIME IS…” 말 그대로 시간이란 무엇인가라는 추상적인 주제를 가지고 스토리를 만드는 단편 동영상을 제작하였다. 카메라 앵글과 스토리라인을 생각해야만했고, 편집을 부드럽게 하기위해 다각도에서 같은 상황을 찍는 방법을 생각하였다. 스토리는 한 남자와 여자가 다른 장소에서 같은 소리를 듣는데, 그 소리의 정체를 찾아내기 위해 돌아다니다가 벌어지는 일을 그린 이야기이다.

This is a trailer video of my movie “Time is….” I created logo animations and text animations for this project.

앞에 보았던 “Time is…”라는 단편 동영상의 트레일러 영상이다. 트레일러 영상을 제작하기 위해 로고 애니메이션과 중간의 텍스트 애니메이션을 영상의 분위기에 맞게 디자인하였다.

This is my first lyric video experiment. I usually listen this song a lot, so I made a lyric video that we can see a lot these days in Youtube. I learned how to construct an entire plan for characater animation in After Effects. I brought same color and background from their album cover, and tried to empathize just the lyrics.

평소에 이 노래를 자주 들었기 때문에, 가사도 익히 알고있었다. 그래서 요즘 유튜브에 자주 올라오는 가사 애니메이션으로 제작해보았다. 앨범커버에서 가지고 있는 색감을 그대로 가지고 와 단순하게 가사만 보일 수있도록 텍스트 애니메이션을 제작해보았다. 텍스트 애니메이션을 어떻게 계획하는지 알 수있는 기회가 되었다.

This is re-making project of the movie Halloween’s opening. After watching the original movie and movie opening, I tried to get their moods and camera angles they created to my new verison of movie opening. I created my own verison with my aesthetic of simplicity, and focusing on their camera angles.

공포영화 할로윈의 인트로를 보고 그것에서 영감을 받되, 자신이 가지고 있는 미적감성을 바탕으로 새로운 영화 할로윈의 인트로를 만들어 보았다. 영화 시점상 몰래 쳐다보는 시선이 많은 점에서 착안을 하였고, 간단한 모션을 이용하여 만들 수 있는 방법으로 제작을 해보았다.

This is a documentary video of a project in Open Style Lab. We comtemplated designs for disabled people, and we documented all the processes in this video which is recoreded and edited by myself.

장애인을 위한 디자인 솔루션을 생각하는 Open Style Lab 프로젝트에서 했던 모든 과정을 다큐멘터리 비디오로 제작해서 상영하였다. 안에 나오는 디자인, 비디오 촬영과 편집 모두 본인에 의해 제작되었다.

This is re-making album cover project that I love the song. This song is coming from the poem with the same title. It is talking about the love from a person’s point of view who is dedicating himself.

앨범커버를 리메이크 하는 작업을 하였다. “너무 아픈사랑은 사랑이 아니었음을”이라는 류근의 시를 김광석이 노래로 만든 것을 알고, 만약에 현대의 감성으로 이 앨범을 발매한다면 어떤 느낌을 가지고 작업을 했을까라는 마음을 가지고 앨범커버 제작을 해보았다.

This is re-designing book covers that already exists. I considered tone and mood that each books has, and decided to use each different fonts and scales for each books. I also picked three different illustrations which match with each books and placed them.

위대한 개츠비, 모디빅, 화씨 451도 내가 좋아하는 이 세가지 책의 커버를 다시 디자인 해보았다. 각각의 책의 분위기와 성격에 맞는 일러스트를 직접 골라 커버의 크기에 맞게 재조정한뒤, 그 분위기에 맞는 폰트와 위치를 정해 책 커버를 다시 디자인하였다.

This is packaging design experiments for a product from my choice. I decided to make labels for pickle products because I really hate pickles. The main point is making product labels for people to buy the pickles even though they don’t like pickles, but pakcages are simple and cool.

이 패키지 디자인은 내가 가장 싫어하는 제품을 골라 나와 같은 입장에서 그들이 싫어하는 제품이지만 사게끔 만들고 싶어하는 디자인을 생각해서 만들어본 라벨 디자인이다. 내 자신이 피클을 정말 싫어하기 때문에 내가 봐도 이뻐서 사고 싶을만큼 심플하고 알록달록한 디자인을 가진 피클제품라벨을 디자인을 하였다.
